# Cost Report

_LOFT Resource › Reports_

## Overview

The Cost Report provides a detailed periodic breakdown of costs across your organization. It shows labor costs over time, broken down by project and person, with support for different cost calculation methods and time periods.

## Data Sources

Toggle between three data sources using the shelf buttons:

- Planned — Costs based on the Role Planner schedule (what you intend to spend)
- Booked — Costs based on confirmed bookings
- Reported — Costs based on actual timesheet entries (what was actually spent)

Tip: Comparing Planned vs. Reported costs is a powerful way to identify budget variances early and improve future planning accuracy.

## Cost Types

Use the Costs menu to select which cost types to include in the report:

- Salary — Base salary cost of each person
- Bid Rate — The rate charged to clients
- Loaded Rate — Fully loaded cost including overhead
- Additional cost categories (software, hardware, etc.) as configured

Note: Rate-based costs (salary, bid rate, loaded rate) are mutually exclusive — selecting one will deselect the others. Additional cost categories can be combined with any rate type.

## Time Periods

Switch between weekly (W) and monthly (M) views using the toggle buttons. Use the date navigator to change the time range and number of periods displayed.

## Summary and Grouping

Use the Summary menu to group data by different organizational levels:

- By Project — Aggregate costs per project per period
- By Person — See individual cost contributions
- By Department or Role — Group costs by organizational structure
- Combined — Use multiple grouping levels for detailed breakdowns

## Actions
