# File Status & Commit

_LOFTai › Libraries & Assets_

## Overview

The Commit tool provides version control for an asset's files — showing what's changed, committing, and pushing to the server. It's available on the LoftDesktop app, where files live locally. If an asset's repo type isn't set up yet, the tab first shows a short form to configure version control (transport by default, or git for legacy assets); once set up, it shows the file status table described below.

## File Status Table

The table lists the asset's files with their status:

- OK — committed and up to date
- Unknown — new/untracked, not yet committed
- Modified — changed since the last commit

Each row shows the file path, size, and status.

## Committing & Pushing

- Click "Commit Changes," enter a message, and commit
- Use "Push to Server" to upload committed changes; a progress bar tracks the upload
- Transport is the default; existing Git-based assets keep working

## Additional Tools

- Version selection — switch between asset versions
- Branch management — switch Git branches (Git repositories)
- Commit log — full history with messages and timestamps
- Metadata & dependency viewers
