# Assistant

## Overview

The Assistant is a conversational production agent scoped to the current project. It can answer questions, find and search assets, run queries, build dashboards in Composer, generate content, and take multi-step actions across the production. Open it from the **Assistant** button in the header — it appears as a resizable side panel so you can keep working alongside it.

## What You Can Ask

-   Find content — "show me every shot still missing a final render"
-   Build views — "build a dashboard of this week's submissions" (renders into Composer)
-   Investigate — "what's the cost breakdown for shot SH010 this month?"
-   Generate — "generate a wide establishing shot of the city at dusk"
-   Take action — bulk updates and deletes (subject to the confirmation thresholds in Project Settings)

## Context Tray

Above the input sits the context tray — the assets and files the Assistant is currently working with, plus any files you've attached to this conversation. Click the box icon to open the **Pinned Items** list and review everything at once. Pins are useful outside the Assistant too: the file browser toolbar can pin a selection and open the same list, and the generation input picker has a **Pinned** pill that lists them for binding as references.

-   Click a file chip to open that file in the file browser, with its detail view already open
-   Click the folder icon on a file chip to jump to the folder that contains it instead
-   Click an asset chip to open the asset
-   Click × to drop something from context; attachments are removed the same way
-   Click the @ badge on a thumbnail in the context manager — or an attachment's thumbnail in the tray — to drop that file's name into your message, so you can point the Assistant at one item by name

Tip: Imperative phrasing executes; desiderative phrasing discusses. Say "generate X" or "delete Y" to act; say "I'd like to explore Z" to talk it through first. The Assistant reads your project, asset, and user **playbooks** every turn.
