# Libraries

_LOFTai › Administration_

## Overview

Libraries organize your project's assets into groups. They appear in the sidebar under LIBRARIES, and **MANAGE ▸ Libraries** shows them as a card grid with an asset count on each. Clicking a card opens the library's files; the gear on a card opens its **detail page**.

## Adding a Library

Use **New Library**. Each library captures:

- Name — the display name shown in the sidebar and throughout the app
- Description — optional
- External folder path — optional; point the library at a folder outside the project to browse it in place
- S3 location — optional; browse a bucket in place (read-only)

A library has one root: a folder path or an S3 location, not both.

## Library Detail Page

Each library has its own page. The header shows where its files live, how many assets it holds, and how many groups can see it, with **Open**to jump to its files and a back arrow to the list. Below are tabs:

- Details — rename the library, edit its description, or change its external folder / S3 root. Renaming keeps the library's code and its assets.
- Access — which groups can see this library. Switch a group on to share the library with it; groups that hold View All Assets already see everything and are marked as such. The same grants appear on the group's page under its Libraries tab.
- Notes — discussion attached to the library itself

**Delete** (trash icon in the header) removes the library. If it still holds assets you are warned first; the assets themselves are not deleted.

## Common Libraries

- Characters — character models, rigs, and references
- Environments — scenes, backgrounds, and environment assets
- Props — objects used in scenes
- Shots — shot-based work organized by sequence
- Editorial — cuts assembled from shots
